Perinatal Mental Health

It is normal for people to have changes in their mood during pregnancy or after giving birth. Most people have the baby blues for about a week. Some people experience depression or anxiety that lasts longer than a few weeks. When this happens, they might be experiencing a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder, such as postpartum depression.

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are very common. 1 in 7 women and 1 in 10 men experience mental health conditions related to pregnancy or after birth.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available.
